Did Bobby create collision maps in the first place?

no, but he probably wished he did. Collision maps are a great invention.

Nope, but I've used them a lot. At one point I was working on an RPG that I used a collision map with. I also used a collision map in my game Reverse Brick Breaker. That one even had multiple different colors so that the ball would act differently depending on which color it hit.
