Plane Crash Island

Postby Bobbyloujo » April 16th, 2011, 6:35 pm

Remember on the old forums I made that text-based adventure game in C++? Well, I decided that I would make a DS version of it with some graphics and stuff. Yesterday I came up with this:

Beach.bmp
Beach.bmp (49.05 KiB) Viewed 1271 times

So originally my game was gonna have some nice looking graphics. But then I thought, "Well, text based games are kinda old-school... why not make the graphics look old-school?" So I did:

8bitbeach.bmp
8bitbeach.bmp (49.05 KiB) Viewed 1271 times

I just now saw that I can make a poll on these forums... I'll let you decide: should I have good graphics or old-school 8-bit graphics?

If I'm not too lazy to finish this it may be my entry for the Homebrew Bounty.

I definitely think you should use the new graphic style. The old-school background doesn't really look 8-bit, it looks more like you just through something together(no offense) Good luck with this project.

to be honest the 8-bit graphics will keep more with the idea of your game, but there isn't much definition in it, i couldn't tell it was a beach just by looking at it, the palm trees do not look like palm trees, so I'm going for the (i wouldn't call it the better graphics but the) more modern graphics.

Seeing as the votes are 5 to none, I'll go with the modern graphics. Thanks for the opinions. I'll work on some more graphics soon.

EDIT:
Hooray! A forest! Making these scenes is fun =]

Like Jason said, this is a dead project.

If you like the art, I've got some better stuff that'll be in my entry for Nirraic's competition.
