No it didn't take 5 years. You just added up the years the Angry Birds franchise has been online (which has only been up for 3 years seeing as "Angry Birds" was released to the public in December 2009). The original "Angry Birds" game took around 2-12 months to create (how ever this is just a rough estimate - it could of taken a lot less to time create). And not to mention was made by a company solely devoted to creating games etc with ~300 employees (updated: 2011).

yeah, that's why we never get anything done real fancy in DSGM. We need a bigger team, more experienced people, the budget, the tools, and the time to do it. I plan on maybe doing Iphone app development for a school project. So within a year hopefully i will have made and published my first app to the app store! So look out for that and i'll let you know how well that works out for me

They actually do.. But not just any random can get a hold of it, you have to have a company (who has shown in the past that they are capable of building games) and you must have a company building and a team of more than 10 people I think it was. (I'm going off memory here). But yeah there is a DS SDK but you have to meet the requirements.

yeah, i was thinking about that. The only problem is i would have to get a mac and then learn Objective C. My other option is to go with Dragonfire SDK and do apps in windows using C++. Only problem with that is that it's limited to functionality and even if i bought the SDK i would still have to pay the $100 fee on top of all the that to enroll into the Apple Dev Program.

Sure i could build a virtual pc and run mac os, that solves the getting a mac issue. However, this way would be cheaper and more efficient but i don't want to program in Objective C, i want to learn more C++. They are both derived slightly from C, but there are enough differences between them to make them different enough. So i have two options. One, go the official way with more functionality, lower cost, and the downside of learning a different language than i wanted. Or two, keep using C++ and pay about double the price. Any suggestions on what i should do guys?

In a month i'm moving over to XNA to make Xbox indie games for some extra cash, i'm currently reading three books and using visual studio till I have the money to pay the $99 membership fee. I suggest you start making Xbox indie games (if you have one...) and we can see who can make the best games as a friendly competition

i've now officially switched to iOS development. My dad has the virtual machine up with Lion 10.7.5 and i have Xcode 4.5, so yeah... Haven't actually learned how to do anything yet because i haven't had the time yet but plan to in the next few days. Looks fun but hard
