I Combined these functions into two keyboard actions. One creates the keyboard, and one outputs.

"Create Keyboard" initializes the keyboard, sets color, and sets position. The action is under objects tab.
"Keyboard Text" checks the keyboard, moves the simple placeholder, and outputs text. The action is under objects tab.

Jan posted a fantastic Keyboard example, I suggest that you search for it.

It'd be easier to pin-point your problem if you post the errorcode, too.

Here you go. I was going to post an example last nigth when a made the actions, but my mom was yelling at me to get off. :P
Also you don't have adapt the placeholder to automatically move when the screen's touched, i made it do that automatically in the program. It's the same exact actions and stuff as Jan's.

the reason i asked whas it was not working.
the create keyboard action missed 1 option nr. 7 PA_LoadDefauktText(!6!,!7!);
i added an extra option and it works.
ARG 1 Default Text
ARG 2 Defaut Text

is this for font and caps ?

I've never heard of that function nor have I found that action under the Palib reference site that you mentioned, so i couldn't have added it. What does it do? The only thing that it doesn't do right is when it skips spaces when you press caps and shift, backspace doesn't work do to the current setup, and the tab doesn't work. And i don't know what your talking about in your last comment, the syntax is unclear.

He thinks you are just drawing the pressed letter on the screen instead of putting it in a string

it's saved in the variable so it should still be saved unless at any point you clear or change the variable or something. With the current setup when you come back to room the screen is blank (i have recently found that out, and could possibly find a way to fix this), but just tap the screen again in the room and the text will reappear for now.

what is it that you don't get? Is it what you have to input into the commands? Also, i might add an example to only move the outputter if the keyboard is touched, add a cursor, and arrow key movement to move around the text.

yep, thats where i am stuck.
whe are both running this discussion, made a view hours to have a key board.
i am buzzy to make a new organizer, and its need the key board and strings a lot thats why.
i i have this then the rest wil folow,
i am ad my best at creating screens and sprites and stuff...

Ok i now see your problem. I have though about this, but never actually tried it. The solution should be easy, but i'm not going to post anything for sure until i test it first.

On the other hand i'm decent i guess at programming and my graphics suck.

Wait till tomorrow or later today. I'm busy at the moment multitasking. I just found another bug (which is why i didn't post these actions under the actions part of the forum). I'm going to teak an action, add another action or two, and remake a new example with maybe with some added features.

Ok done. Sorry i thought it would take longer, but i stopped multitasking to get it done faster. First of all to do what you want i had to create another action, because do to how the the "Keyboard Text" action was made it wasn't possible to reoutput this text. For this i made a new action called "Draw Entered Text". You could not use the 'Keyboard Text' action or the draw variable action due to how they are set up. This new action will draw the string you need. Also when i was testing the actual actions in a game type situation, i noticed the glitch i was talking about earlier. I'm not sure if anyone else might have noticed, but when you switched the rooms the keyboard remained in tact virtually, but not visually. This meant the keyboard still could be used even though you couldn't see it. If you tried using the 'Keyboard Text" action to redraw the text were you wanted, then you would have seen what i was talking about with the keyboard still being used and outputting text if the screen was touched over the keyboard. To get rid of it i made another action called "Delete Keyboard." This will get rid of the keyboard. To use this simple drag the action into where your switching rooms and it should work.

As for my other actions i've made i might post them later on today after i test them a little bit more. I hope these keyboard actions help do what you need. Sorry if any of my actions are bad, I'm new to making DSGM actions and literally started i think 2 days ago after i downloaded someone elses actions and saw how easy it was to make one. I'll add you as a friend and private message you later when i post other actions and attach links.
