Keyboard Help

Stuck? This is the place to go to get and give help.

= means "assign a given Variable a value" (assignment operator)

== means "is equal to" (arithmetic operator)

That's a clearer way to explain the difference.

EDIT: Suggestion removed, apparently it doesn't work.

Seriously, you don't know what you're talking about Foxi.
You shouldn't pretend you know how to do things if you didn't test them.
!1! = ' ';
Won't work!!!
memset(!1!,' ',!2!);
will work!!!
Don't recommend things that don't work please.

I was in a hurry, I reviewed what you wrote in a figurative "flash". No need for animosity.

My suggestion comes straight from PaLib's wiki, if it doesn't work, it means that it used to at some point of PaLib's lifecycle.

No it never did. This is a standard C line; it has nothing to do with PAlib. !1! is an array and you can't make an array ' ' that doesn't make any sense. It will probably give you some error about a pointer and an integer.

I was using a Global String variable, not an Array... I'm n00b at programming, remember ;) I'm making an effort though.

I know only very basic C, like operators etc.

No it was an array. A string is another word for array.

We need to upload all the actions into one file, and make a DSGM file showing everybody how to use the actions. In the DSGM we should also add a cursor to give it a more professional feel. Once we complete all of this we need to post it under the actions part of the forum and call the topic "Keyboard Actions." If you want i'll do all of this because i have the free time, also I have a copy of all of the actions.

Alright, makes sense now. Thanks ;)
I guess "You learn new things everyday" ;)

Also, I was thinking... maybe it would be a good idea to add the "Clear Text" code to a Stylus.Held on Backspace condition in the general code? That'd make sense - tapping on backspace removes letters, holding the stylus on it deletes the whole thing. Your thoughts?

which verison of the Keyboard Text action is that? If it should be the last one i posted, and if so then then it's fine, if not then regrab the newest one. Also the Keyboard Text 2 action isn't needed (and since i made it i think it didn't work) if you have the latest Keyboard Text action.

It's starting to get messy 'round here. I'd say it'd be best if we round up the "Final" versions of all actions in one post and get rid of all the obselete ones in the whole thread.

I'm still standing by my "Stylus.Held on Backspace" idea, but since it doesn't seem to catch your attention, I'll just leave it to myself and say "Well, it seems we've done a good job, Gentlemen".

As i thought, this example isn't using the most current actions (which raises many problems), and second of all it's not working properly. Did you check if you had the most up-to-date actions, or bother to check if the DSGM file was working properly? Now that i think about it, it might being working properly because i realized i deleted the Keyboard Text 2 action. I'll post all the stuff with a better example later.

the actions all work and ar edited this day and night.
the one that did not work is long forgotten you had just 2 ) ad the wrong place.
and these ar the latest actions and new ones to.
i removed the enter action from it because the external one is better so you can do things easyer.
the 2 other commands ar not needed because its not a custom keyboard !
Thats face 2 of the project, a custom keyboard.

i did noticed your question about the stylus, but its a keyboard and has to work that way.
of course your idea can be added later. and whe can delete old shit from the forums so whe can clean up a bit. and only get the working stuff and go from there.

oficial it has to go to the actions forum whe ask james l8er

oke?

Haha, true, but there are still things we could do with what we have and or add. Maybe we should start on a new project together as well... Anyone up to it?

Here are all the latest actions and action icons for the keyboard.

Note: The "Keyboard Text 2" action was not included because it was the same as or if not slightly a later version of the latest Keyboard Text action and there would be no point in having two of the same action. I only made "Keyboard Text 2" so i didn't have to overwrite the first one since the second was a test of new code.

Hello,

I'm new ad DSGM, but with useful examples in this forum and my programming experience, I have just created a FULLY keyboard management. This is my first DSGM application!
It can handle every key (shift, caps lock, backspace) on the standard keyboard of PAlib.
When backspace is touched, the last character is deleted.
When Return key is touched, the keyboard disappears.
