A quick new project of mine is called 'Eternium'. It is an awesome card game where you can trade and battle to build up your own collection. I'm just abusing 'Announcements' to fill you in.

... A new and exciting card game! Growing exponentially in use, Eternium makes you think - but makes it fun.

The product looks and feels fantastic. I am, of course, the biggest fan of Eternium right now. I have over 100 cards, including Revengar and Gate of Eternity. Read the story!

You can even browse all cards on-line. Here's the link: http://eterniumgame.com/cards

Now you can play this fantastic game for just £2.50, including shipping.

Try it out - and thanks!

Yes. The cards look amazing. They are actually better quality than Yu-gi-oh cards, because they're a bit thicker, but have the same amount of shiny.

I have set up the business to take orders right now and ship tomorrow. So, please, order away.

If anyone cares, I wrote 8 different programs to create these cards. Each card has a probability frequency (how often it should appear), which is considered when generating them. Each card has an ID, so you can add it to 'My Tome':

'My Tome' will allow you to enter the unique codes on the cards you own, to build an on-line portfolio. You can compare your cards with the other Eternium players and unlock exclusive on-line only cards to play.

I think it's all very impressive.

I'll order sometime. Hey, I know, make a game about it using DSGM.

Or is it only a card game?

James, James, James. Card games have died. It's sad but they are truly dead.

I don't know, maybe you'll bring card games back into style? That would be impressive.

A card game without any additional functionality is dead; I agree. Kids collecting cards and having a 'book' of them is pretty unlikely to happen again.

Eternium is quite a bit better than that though. This 'book' of cards is actually on-line - see 'My Tome' on the site, and when you reach milestones of card numbers in 'My Tome' you can print on-line only cards to play.

And, I do believe, irrelevant of age, children do like to collect things and see it as a competition - and to 'beat' their peers. Card games can survive very well with just a little integration of technology.

And since I'm a programmer...

I just put my programming experience to a game that died because it needed something new.

I don't know, maybe you'll bring card games back into style? That would be impressive.

Well, I am the master of style 8-)

And against whom should I play this game?

Anyone! I have played this game for just 20 minutes at school when I was bored with a friend I didn't usually talk to that much. That was quite good for us. Theoretically you can play with just 7 cards each, but from experience that usually ends in some recursive game play, or where both players die simultaneously. However, 2 packs each and all is fine.

But seriously - try it with your friends. You will soon try to outwit each other.

Sorry man, this is going to be a big NOT for me.

Offtopic:
You live in London James, don't you? Are you participating in the uproars in London? Is it in your neighbourhood?

Please make a topic about that in 'Off Topic', not here. I live many hundred miles from London - I am not a tax sucking southern softie. I have no interest in the retarded and laughable actions of the plebs down south. We already pay millions to keep these plebs under control. May as well put police to use and get some value for money! Those who destroy things will pay.

Sorry man, this is going to be a big NO for me.

Well, I guess it's not for everyone.

I guess I could make a video game for it. But I don't think anyone would play that - and it would need on-line connectivity so people could add their cards. I mean, who had the video game for Yu-Gi-Oh when they were younger?

Ok sorry. I wonder how I came to that thought then...

You're lucky, I just succeeded to get the WiFiLib working. ;)

You may want to spell check your cards, James.

Gate of Eternity card-
"...where the Ancient Monlith slumbers."
Should be "Monolith".

Well noticed: This was flagged up on the first ever test sample of Eternium cards. We didn't change it though.

Due to regional variations of spelling and language development in the Eternium realm, it is appropriate that both spellings are used for this monster. Compare it to the way different people speak from different parts of England.

It is like the words 'color' and 'colour': the correct one depends on where you live.

Hmm. This is just my opinion but I think you should keep it consistent. Using both spellings makes it seem like an error.

It was a mistake, kept for novelty.

It's things like that that just make the product a bit more warm.

James, why did you do this? Do you really think its going to succeed? Why post this topic when the majority of us are old enough to know these kinda games are crap?

If it does succeed I hope to be seeing these cards at my local chinese market where they import fake pokemon cards and the like!
