The concept is great and the cards are nice... BUT the characters (what they look like) themselves just kill the whole game.

That makes me think... Who made the design of the cards?

James designed them. He is a very tallented designer for programs, websites and anything else. You can always tell when a graphic has been made by James though... He always adds that sort of curve down the middle where the brightness changes. Look at the forum logo to see what I mean.

That's how I roll.

The style of them, or the quality in that style?

Cool, though you'd need some advertising other than only on this forum. The reason why I know about DSGM is because I bumped into it while surfing the web. So it was a coinsidense. I would have never known about DSGM if I didn't have internet, and I would have never known about this card game if I hadn't been on this forum. But never mind me.

It would be nice if you could make this "Card Game" and actual game based around the cards. You can buy the cards to put into your online deck. I know of a game like this.

Yeah - it's not just a trading game. There is an actual game, like Yu-gi-oh.

http://eterniumgame.com/game

You can buy the cards to put into your online deck.

That too plus online only cards -

"'My Tome' will allow you to enter the unique codes on the cards you own, to build an on-line portfolio. You can compare your cards with the other Eternium players and unlock exclusive on-line only cards to play."

I'll check out the link you sent me.

I'm going to have to go with the style, the quality/colouring ect. Is great though.

From James' signature I get the characters are rather "flat". There's no shade. I don't really like that...

You should look at the card browser on the website. I think I maybe picked particularly bad examples for my signature. They were the three involved in the story on the site and I had the images on the Desktop - why I chose those.

I'm going to have to go with the style

My style is to get a monochrome outline and shade that. I really can't be more creative and all future cards will be this pseudo-cartoony style too.

Some of the backgrounds on the cards are lovely and work well but I'm not digging the style, one of the big reasons people collect cards and like them is for how they look, good aesthetic, interesting characters in cool poses etc so maybe more focus on the artwork would do the cards well, especially with all the effort you seem to be going to for the card paper quality etc. Do the cards come in a pack or loose? Pack appearance is another factor. Eg in pokemon cards I see younger relatives picking based on who is on the front, and keeping buying packs looking for certain characters they are interested in having. Something to consider from a buisness perspective for you with all the effort you have put in thus far.
