Binding of Isaac DS

Postby kevman323 » February 13th, 2013, 2:30 am

I've been working on this for a while. I was disappointed that Nintendo did not allow The Binding of Isaac on the 3DS, so I thought Hey, why not make my own?

Most of the major core gameplay mechanics are there. The things that are missing right now are items, hearts and health, bosses and more floors.

I have already completed several enemies, tear firing, randomly generated floors, bombs(need work) and a procedurally generated floor map.

There are a lot of bugs in this, just as a warning. It is very much a working in progress. Itdoesnt crash or anything as far as I know on an emulator, but for some reason it crashed sometimes on my acekard2i.

If you find any bugs, or have any questions, please let me know!

Not bad! It would be nice/better to have all directional shooting though.

Well, it would be possible with the touch screen, but the PC version didn't have that.

This is actually amazing, the fact that its almost exactly like the PC version. I can see this becoming a successful port once you add items, hearts and health, bosses and more floors.

Good luck bud, and stick with this project.

and game suspension code! Otherwise, nice! For shooting in any direction with the touch screen, you can just shoot the balls in the angle of the stylus

Glad to see you guys like it! I tend to work on things sporadically. It may be a while, but my first goal is to get a complete working basement with items, bosses, and new floors.

Just a small progress update. Things have been going well. I have now fully implemented a Heath system with pick-up hearts(including spirit hearts), bomb pickups, keys, coins, chests, blue rock items, and overall more bug fixes, and when I say I have implemented coins and chests, I mean both types of coins, and both types of chests.

Along with all of the stuff mentioned above, I have gotten the Small Rock item working completely. This includes item, stat effects, and Character modification. The Character modification sprites are stored in NitroFS, so memory should not be an issue regarding the 100's of possible sprite modifications.

I also want to give you guys a little more info. I am modeling this port from the original binding of Isaac (I.E. NOT the wrath of the lamb). If everything goes good, I will add WoTL stuff, but my main focus is on the main game, and right now mainly the basement floor.

I am planning on releasing another playable version once some more items are completed, and when I add more room types. After that, I will release the next update when the Basement is completed Entirely, including bosses. From then on, I plan to release the game on a floor by floor basis.
