Sprite Combat 2.1

Postby WinterAce » Sat Dec 19, 2009 6:24 pm

Hello again!
Today(1st January, 2010), I bring to you another update: v2.1!

Here's whats new:
drexegar wrote:All you need now is some sound effects and music and your on your way to a beefy game!

1. Thanks for your..... (what shall I say???)..... much needed comment. Done it! The game features one (for now) Title sound and 3 in-combat sounds.
2. Sneak-peek of the story mode added.
3. Future saving issues resolved.
4. Even better fading. (Now, even the text and sprites fade in!)
5. "Press B to go back." added in many places.

Sprite Combat is now on FileTrip! http://filetrip.net/f9238-Sprite-Combat-2-1.html

I don't think the WIP topic deserves to be locked. Maybe, when you see who wins, the room fades out and in ?

Well, when you choose your weapon to fight with, the text just appears instantly, no boom or anything.

This is certainly worthy of more work ("should I do more: yes"). It is on the way to the games page but I recommend some little changes.

Change the in game font, as the current one is too hard to read. Check out 'Fonte4.png' or even just Arialbold.
Vertically centralize the "You win" / "It's a draw" text
Add animation to the characters in their stances instead of being static, even if it is just casual movement.
"Opponent's Score:" can be replaced by "Opponent:" and "Your Score" by "You:".

What version you using to do this project?

I have finally released the BETA version of Sprite Combat 2.0! Check below to download!

Beta testers wanted!!! I want to test the saving feature. As this works only on a DS and I currently don't have mine, I want volunteers to test it.

I'm volunteering to test! What have I got to do?
When you'll come to the main menu, have a look at the new "Wins and Losses till today". It'll be zero the first time you play. Play a game. Doesn't matter if you win or lose. Now check the Wins and Losses again. One of them should be "1". Now reset your DS (saving won't work in an emulator) and check it again. If the same one is "1", voila I've succeeded and big thanks to you!

Thank you James for your comments and suggestions.

Done it for 2.0!
James wrote:Vertically centralize the "You win" / "It's a draw" text
I think it's already centralized. Or.... I don't get what you mean.
James wrote:Add animation to the characters in their stances instead of being static, even if it is just casual movement.
I'll do this when I add the Story Mode in the next release. Anyway, the sprites do get animated (stick out their hands) in the action room.
James wrote:"Opponent's Score:" can be replaced by "Opponent:" and "Your Score" by "You:".
Again, done it!

Version 4.4. The latest, I guess....

Ah, the font is perfect now. A much worthy upgrade.

I will leave the rest of the brainstorming to you.

wow! very awesome Upgrade. You did a great job using the fade transition to slow down the attacks. Now then can be easily recognized.

All you need now is some sound effects and music and your on your way to a beefy game!

@James and Drexegar: Thank you for your suggestions and comments.

@Eldude: Isn't that supposed to be 'Rock' Paper Scissors?

Anyone tried the saving feature of 2.0?
